Q. WHERE DO YOU OFFER GROUP LESSONS?
A. We currently offer clinics and speciality tennis lessons in the Memorial Park, Memorial, Downtown, Katy, and Spring, TX area. In addition to group lessons, we offer private instruction in the areas listed above.
Q. HOW DO I DETERMINE MY PLAYING LEVEL?
A. Beginner (1.0 to 2.0 NTRP) - Players have limited experience. Classes focus on stroke progression and footwork with drills, games and abbreviated point play. Basic singles and doubles formations are taught. VIEW HTL'S BEGINNER CAMPS
Advanced Beginner (2.5 NTRP)- Players continue their stroke progression and learn more advanced net play and footwork techniques. Instructors work with students on basic singles and doubles strategy.
Intermediate (3.0 to 3.5 NTRP)- Players can hit medium and fast paced balls, serve/volley consistently, and they understand singles and doubles strategy. Classes focus on improved consistency, specialty shots and advanced singles and doubles strategy.
Advanced (4.0 to 4.5 NTRP) - Live ball situational singles and doubles drills are the focus, allowing players to work on all aspects of the game each and every drill. Advanced drills move at a fast pace – players should be at a 4.0 player or above and have a good understanding of singles and doubles strategy.
Q. WHAT IS A BEGINNER BOOT CAMP?
A. In three short days (4.5 total hours), a qualified instructor shows beginning adult students the basics of grips, strokes, footwork and strategy. After taking this class you will have a much better understanding of the game and be able to practice the right skills with friends and on your own. GO TO SCHEDULE.
Q. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PLAYING TENNIS?
A. Recreational tennis is on the rise across the country. The sport gets you moving and on average, a player burns 300-600 calories for every hour played. Besides the workout, tennis brings you new friends, intense or casual competition, mental stimulation, and the opportunity to have fun outdoors.
Q. HOW DO I CHOOSE A RACQUET?
A.Before you run to a sports mega store and buy any ole racquet, hear us out. Racquets range in weight, head size, grip size, balance and overall quality. There are hundreds of racquets to choose from and choosing the right one will make a difference on the court. We recommend visiting a tennis specialty store and tell them about your athletic ability, playing style (if applicable), and get your hand measured. Most stores will even let you take racquets home to demo.
Q. WHERE CAN I GET MY RACQUET RESTRUNG?
A. Tennis Express is Houston's best tennis store. They have great customer service and a full selection of tennis equipment and apparel.
Q: DO YOU HIRE TEACHERS?
A: Yes, HTL actively seeks qualified teachers who excel at teaching. Please contact us to discuss your background and experience. However, our first loyalty goes to our current teachers.
Q. WHAT ARE THE WEATHER AND MAKEUP POLICIES?
A. Classes meet unless of steady rain or temperatures below 45 degrees. In the event HTL cancels class, notification of the cancellation will be via email/text message & a makeup date will be scheduled promptly. If for whatever reason you have to miss a clinic, give us 24 hours notification and we’ll attempt to fit you into a different class of the session in progress. We can't guarantee we will be able to accommodate you, but we will try our best.

Q. WHAT IS CARDIO TENNIS?
Cardio Tennis focuses on the cardio and mobility aspects that all tennis players are looking for to better their game in a FUN way. It is taught in group activities to keep you moving and in your zone. Beginners to advanced players are welcome. Be prepared to get a total body workout, burn hundreds of calories, get in shape, improve Your game, all ages & abilities, move to the rhythm of the music. Reserve your spot in the Saturday's 9am class or jump to the cardio schedule.
